Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Soldiers to White House
President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Information on the Tragic Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Community Reaction
Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in the capital.
Honoring the Soldier
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators wished for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Government Revisions
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The incident led the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt providing visas to possessors of travel documents.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor said on a news program.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Impact of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with honor, per the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” he told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
