The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded in the wake of a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The track features a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.
The team running the initiative have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the area was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
