Philly Falter in Texas & Patrick Saves Chiefs – Top Moments from National Football League Week 12
The twelfth week provided an epic Dallas Cowboys rally, or was it an epic Eagles implosion?
Postseason Patrick Mahomes arrived to salvage the Kansas City's campaign as the Chicago Bears continue to surprise while they extend their winning run.
Did Sanders do sufficiently on his first professional start to secure the starting job in Ohio?
We’ll examine at the best of the week in the league.
Analysis – Dallas Rally or Philly Fail?
The Cowboys found themselves down and out at twenty-one to zero down versus the reigning Super Bowl champions, so how on earth did they produce their joint-best recovery in history?
The emotions of a first home fixture after Marshawn Kneeland tragic death may have been a factor, but technically it was a mixture of Dak Prescott resolve and a defence that cashed in on uncommon mistakes by the Philadelphia.
Dak surpassed Romo’s records for passing yards (now thirty-four thousand three hundred seventy-eight) and game-winning drives (twenty-five) with an all-action display – his plunging touchdown embodying his energetic display.
Philly wasted a lead of twenty-one points or more for the first time after nineteen ninety-nine, with just their second game with several turnovers this season – the other being a disappointing division defeat at the New York.
In addition to fourteen infractions for 96 yards, the attacking malaise that hit Hurts after what – for him – was an explosive beginning was huge. He'd only passed for over two hundred yards in four games prior to the weekend, he had over 150 in the first half alone in Dallas.
However from the time the Eagles went 21-0 up their offense derailed dramatically – with four straight punts, a failed three-point attempt and then a fumble handing chance after chance to the Cowboys.
Philadelphia’s defence is brilliant, it truly is, but an offense that's not surpassed twenty-one points in five of 7 games (three losses) is now a huge worry, because the components are all there but it's just not working.
Nick Sirianni game is all about securing the key moments, the defence maintains them in it and what offense there is does just about enough – if it cannot even do that and now the composure and possession security is breaking down, there could be problems ahead.
In Focus – Playoff Patrick Shows Up Early to Rescue Chiefs
It wasn’t as dramatic, but Kansas City's eleven-point comeback in the final period versus a strong Indianapolis squad was very notable – and could have just saved their season.
How significant was it? Well, the league’s Next Gen Stats now assign the Kansas City a fifty-eight percent probability of reaching the playoffs, when a defeat on Sunday would have dropped that number to 28%.
No wonder the playoff form of Mahomes turned up, passing for 235 yards in the latter half by itself and guiding 3 scoring drives in their final 4 series to win it in extra time.
A few huge passes and daring runs are commonplace for Patrick in the playoffs, but currently the Chiefs are in post-season mode – at 6-5 and just 10th in the conference standings.
This was closer to the old Chiefs though, with a first close victory of the season after dropping five previously – they secured 11 of them the previous season so, if that confidence comes back, this Chiefs Kingdom may not be done just yet.
Talking Point – Can Bears Be Rulers of the Division?
You just can't ignore the Bears any longer. A win over the Steelers, minus Aaron Rodgers, maintained them top of the NFC North and at 8-3 – holding the identical standing as the Philadelphia.
They appear dangerous on both sides of the field, with a defense that leads the league in interceptions and overall takeaways and, in Caleb Williams, a young player now used to winning tight games.
He can still be shaky, giving away a touchdown after a turnover in his team’s end zone – but he additionally passed for three touchdowns and, with already five final period comebacks this season, he understands how to finish the game.
Green Bay are in hot chase in the NFC North after dominating the Minnesota and Detroit are right there after beating the Giants in extra time with a monster game from Gibbs.
The Bears are interestingly the most consistent with 8 wins in nine, but as they travel to the Super Bowl champs on the holiday we'll see exactly how good they really are.
Look Ahead – Thrilling Holiday in Prospect
It appears one of the best holiday line-ups for a long time, with every game loaded with postseason implications.
Detroit host the Green Bay in the traditional curtain-raiser in Michigan, before a rare visit back to Dallas for the Chiefs, who started out existence as the Texans way back in the 1960s before moving to Kansas City.
Sunday's rally kings are both clinging to playoff hopes but have very little room for error – so this will have a post-season feel.
And how about the Ravens? An ugly victory over the Jets in fact has them top of the AFC North after starting one and five and appearing finished.

Will Shedeur Sanders Keep His Starting Role?
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski dismissed inquiries on whether Shedeur Sanders had performed enough in his first professional outing to keep the first-team position when Gabriel returns.
But the issue will keep being asked as Shedeur became the first Cleveland signal-caller to win his debut league game since Eric Zeier in nineteen ninety-nine – with 17 additional first-year quarterbacks failing to do so since.
It came just the Raiders, and with the assistance of an almost aggressive Cleveland defence recording 10 sacks, but the Browns’ offence requires a leader, a figurehead to build belief.
And confidence is one thing not missing in Sanders, who told a network {
