Palestinian-American Adolescent Released Following Nine Months in Israeli Custody

An American-Palestinian teenager who spent 270 days in Israeli detention without being charged was released.
Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested in February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, claims he consistently denied.
United States authorities expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.
Currently aged sixteen, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.
They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, while battling health issues acquired while detained.
In a statement, the youth's uncle expressed the family's "tremendous relief".
Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"At this moment, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after being subjected to Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances over several months."
The state department stated they would maintain to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.
{"The Trump Administration considers paramount to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," it added.
Twenty-seven US lawmakers submitted a formal letter to the state department and the administration, demanding more be done to release him.
Mohammed's parent, with four children operating an ice cream shop in Florida, previously claimed his son only confessed about rock throwing due to physical abuse.
He had not seen nor direct contact since February, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him through judicial records.
Mohammed was held without charge in Ofer prison in the West Bank.
Additionally housing adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences including killings.
There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.
