Fans Call for Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the pop star are urging that a individual who jumped a fence and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and charging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records revealed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another response on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of attendees had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual version of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The show itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful film of the previous year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, winning a pair for best costume and production design.
