Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones persist in remembering the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt prepared to express about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Things that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate piece, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive put a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the probe.
The relevant authority had already determined their deaths were the result of murder, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the killings, public figures offered varying responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering controversial remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an adviser could have acted when the choice to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
