George Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three win in the series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."
The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment except for Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, remain the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance this season.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.
The Blue Jays won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
